Twenty six of our car club members enjoyed dining at Roots Restaurant for our January meeting. The specials were listed in plain sight and the menu is full of down home favorites. Nice little restaurant, good food, good service and they live up to their motto of: Home cooking for 60 years. Try the pork chops or the fish fry... you won't be disappointed!

Food is homemade and very delicious! Prices are great also...

This is a great family restaurant with exceptional home cooked food. It is worth the drive from Columbus.

This place has been here for as long as I can remember ( I have been here for 65 years). Most of the staff have been here for years. Many over 20 years.That in it's self should be a large blinking light that says we are in this for the Long haul.The overall dining experience will bring you back, and you most likely will bring a friend with you.Been in the same place since jump street. It is a clean, friendly family owned and operated.Menu keeps up with the times. Yet some dishes have been made without changes to it's preparation for over 70 years. Yeah baby just like grandna makes. Please try it, and see if it's a five star rating for you, bet it is;

A very nice old-fashioned family restaurant. I had the cucumber/onion salad and the dressing is to die for. The baked steak special was tender and deliciously savory.

This place was great for the elderly. There were lots of elderly people who would done here. Had a nursing home smell to it. They had regulars where everyone knew your name. Was a nice little diner that will be missed by many.

Home cooking in a quaint little blue house converted to a restaurant. They have been doing business for many many years so obviously they are doing something right. The food is always consistent and very delicious.

We were on our meandering way toward Columbus from the Hocking Hills area and were looking for a local restaurant for breakfast. I just happened to see someone getting out of their car in front of this older house that had a sign saying breakfast and something else. I had to find a place to turn around. Any way, the service was very friendly and the food was great. We also told our waitress about goetta (another story there).

Excellent fish dinner. Enjoyed broccoli cauliflower salad and macaroni salad. Yum.

I stopped by yesterday to try it out since I work down the street from the restaurant, my experience was very good. My server was very attentive and kept my cup full and the food was hot, fresh and tasty. I see myself coming back in the near future!

It was home cooked food very good. Strawberry pie was great.

All was good, from the time we walked in, until we left. We were served very quickly and was as we ordered. Server was very good and so very nice. Loved our breakfast, we'll be back.

Today was my first visit to this restaurant, my girlfriend and I were very pleased with with service, food and friendliness here. The food was amazing, best I've had in a long time. Everyone was really nice and friendly. I will definitely keep coming back here!

I am sad to say that Roots has been closed and the property is now for sale. The owner passed away recently. A fixture in Lancaster it has been enjoyed by many for decades. Closing this well run place is a great loss for Lancaster, Ohio. My condolences to the family and to the good, friendly people who have lost their jobs. Roots is a family run diner is a Lancaster, OH on Memorial Drive/Ohio Route 33. Daily specials as well as cakes, pies & cobbler. Sandwiches & dinners with sides. Handicap parking & access ramp in the back with main parking in front. Handicap restroom available. Great value. Closed on Mondays.

For the price you get a good meal. It's a good size portion

I would have loved to enjoy the restaurant and preferred to support a local business. However, I needed a place with wi-fi (which they do have) where I could work for ~8hrs. I'm in from out of state with my family and our accommodations do not yet have wi-fi but I'm on the clock today. Unfortunately the Roots Restaurant could not accommodate my special request, so I ended up at Panera instead (which has an excellent breakfast brioche, btw). Maybe next time, Roots Restaurant, maybe next time.

I've been gong here for decades and the food tastes as good as it did 30 years ago. Like everything else, the pies are made in-house and are worth the drive alone. Grab lunch, then hit a couple spots in Hocking Hills. Nice day trip!

Like sitting in your kitchen! Food is great. Many options on the menu. Great cup of coffee. Desserts are yummy.

This homestyle restaurant is always delicious and the service is always warm and friendly.

The tables were kind of dirty looking and the place looked like it needed some upkeep done. The employees were very friendly and welcoming. The food was okay but nothing exceptional. The thing that I found most disturbing was the "creamer" that was left in little tin "jars" on the table. It could be opened by anyone so it's hard to tell what could have been put in there by random people. Not only that but the creamer felt warm and it's hard to say how long it had sat on the table since it appeared it had been there all day. I didnt have to use creamer luckily but it still disgusted me a little.

Stopped in to eat on the way to hike at Hocking Hills nearby. Really good food and the waitress and townspeople were warm and friendly. They have specials made on different days. Good find for homemade comfort food.

I went for breakfast the service was great I had the Chip beef gravy over toast and it had way too much pepper couldn't eat it but the eggs and home fries were perfect

I had the Country Fried Steak and it was delicious!! I've been by here 100 times and glad I finally stopped in. Definitely will return!

Food was good server was excellent. The man that check me out was nice but when I got to my car I realized he shorted me 5.00.I gave him a 50 my bill was 15and some change also bought mms and life savers he said 18 and some change. He have me a 20 a 5 a 1 and the change.it should of been a 20, 10 ,. and 1 And change....

Family Restaurant with a selection of down-home cooking and delicious desserts. One of my favorite stops for Friday's Fish Fry. The fish fry includes extra servings for the price which is good for take-home and for the budget. Root's uses a cod fish that is very flavorful. They also offer a selection of daily specials and the desserts include seasonal favorites. Service may be a little slow at times but the wait is worth it.

Love the baked steak dinner! Just wish it had mushrooms in the gravy then it would be almost as good as mine. Lol

I loved roots so sad that it ahut down thank you to the owner aje brought tons of memories and love. Thank You.

This was our first time eating here. I highly recommend giving it a try. Very friendly staff and the homemade food was just that. Potato salad tasted just like mom used to make. They get 20 stars.

Took 3 of my kids out for dinner here and we loved it. Very comfortable atmosphere and the food was wonderful even for the picky eaters. Service was fantastic also!

It's nothing fancy but really good home cooking. Friendly staff & over all pleasant dining experience.

Baked Steak was awesome. Wish the mashed potatoes weren't instant. That would have elevated the dish. Also I had some of my Mom's chicken -n- noodles just as good as ever. Pleasant experience.

Got the BLT with egg, nothing fell out of the sandwich while eating, held together well!

Very good food. There was an unusual smell when you first walk in, I would have given 5 stars of not for that
